when i started driving my dad took me out at night in a 95 4cyl 5 speed ranger. he taped up the tach so i would have to listen when to shift. then he just told me drive. didnt tell me what to do or when to shift, and he made me go down the interstate doing 75. Somehow i didnt stall it at all until the day of my road test when the guy got in i was so nervous i forgot that i had the parking brake on. You will stall it and grind the gears a little bit but 5 people learned to drive on that ranger and the transmisson never had a problem. it finally died the last time it caught fire with 323000 miles on it. Moral of the story if you hate your vehicle it will live for ever and everyone can learn to drive a stick. just be smooth about everything

There's not a human out there that didn't stall out learning to drive stick, didn't grind a gear or two. There are no dumb questions bro, Dumb is not asking.

Its not that hard to start it up but it could take you a few tries. Practice on a friends vehicle before moving onto your own.
I don't know how many times I flooded my 88 Cherokee learning how to drive stick. Heck I still grind the gears in my Dakota (secertly wishing it will break and the motor will blow so that I can install a 5.9 magnum or H.O. 4.7L with a 46RE 2wd tranny )

since i ride quads with clutches, it really wasnt that hard took me about 20 min to start doin everything perfectly. i first drove a 05 dodge half ton with a 6 speed in it. ive only ever killed it about 5 times. then we had a 05 dodge 1 ton with a cummins and six speed i never killed it. now we got another 1 ton ive prolly killed it about 2 times. oh and ive only missed a gear 2 times and that was in the dodge, i was in second and hit fifth and just punched it then the turbo spooled and we were goin about 80...

thinkin with me dipstick
not hard, just takes practice. when i converted mine over to a 4spd, i had only driven stick twice.
you only get better by doing it, you'll know when you are getting the hang of it when you find yourself turning the radio on...

Yah! so second nature when you get in a vehicle that has a auto and you find yourself skidding to a stop and all you think you are doing is pushing the clutch pedal in and can't realize why the tires are locked up. Or when you are test driving a vehicle doing low speed maneuvers and once again "pushing the clutch pedal" in and looking over at your buddy thinking what the hell are you doing and he is flying towards the winshield. ahh good time great laughs when your use to one thing then do another.

the problem is when you switch back to an auto car. ive never driven automatic until i bought my fifth ave a few months ago. you forget that there isnt a clutch but that rather wide brake pedal sometimes makes you think theres a clutch in it. for the first 2 months i had to drive it with a soda bottle wedged between the seats and a sewing machine pedal on the floor. now i just ride with my one hand holding on the side of the seat because i still cant figure out what to do with it

There have been a couple occasions where I was driving in an auto (usually drive stick) and needed to slam on the brakes. Instinctively, I mashed down the clutch and the brake. When I let off the brake, I wondered for a split second "Why am I still stopping?"
