a look back at an Old Car Trader from 1988

This was one of those "food for thought moments"-I decided to analyze the prices then and now and decide what kind of investment potential there was back in 88...spoiler alert-a Super Bird was listed for 15K back then.

In the early 80's Mopars were cheep, no one really wanted them, GM was putting out after market pieces and blowing the doors off Mopars. They also had a jump on the small car when gas went sky rocketing. But than I think, I paid $300 for my car in 82 can I get $10,000for my car today, I hope so, because I have burned more than that in fuel driving it around town in the past 28 years,.........So investment NO,....fun Ubetya

Those were the days-I was focused on buying a 59 Plymouth at the same time (1987-88) and I turned down a very solid 300G for 4 K simply because I didn't like the way it idled with the cross ram 2 fours and because it wasn't a 59 Fury.
I still regret that decision...

That was about the time I bought my rust free 70,000 mile '69 Coronet 440 2 door hardtop for $800. Now it would be worth about $8000.

Some of these guys out there could possibly retire from selling a classic car that they bought back then but what in the heck are they suppose to do after they dont have a car any more.
