69 RR fresh air vents

Ok searched around and found nothing, sorry if I missed a post about this, here goes...

What have others done to keep the cable pull vents clean, screens maybe, everytime I use a gravel drive way I get sand blasted the first time I reopen these for a mile or so... anyone ever try, or cure this?

I'm gonna try to attach a fine screen over the intake opening... but figured I'd seek someone past experience first... really surprised Noone has a fix for this...

Ok not much progress today (raining) (no garage yet) but went out to get ideas... the air enters at the top, back of each wheel well, there is an attached rubber gaurd over the vent, my plan is to remove it, use rtv silicone to attach a vynle screen over openings, and then reinstall rubber deflector gaurd... any thoughts, ??? Rtv or weather stip adhesive?

Ether or I suppose.....
Any room to add a cabin filter housing so you can replace the filter when you need to? Just food for thought?

ok getting somewhere I hope...

Took the vent apart today... they don't vent from wheel well as I had suspected... they appear vent from cowl... so... also the vent doors move real close to the "air directing" plastic gaurd screwed on by your feet... I removed mine, put a light coat of adhesive on the back side and stuck a dryer sheet to it then cut off excess after it dried well... seems to work well, adds a choice of smell to car as well.... I'll just redo them each fall as I put the car away for winter as to "change the filters"!!!!
