Last time I looked at my tight Budget........ It had an I.O.U. in it...:duck:

your best bet would be to check some of your local salvage yards.

Anyone have any ideas??

My 74 dart originally came with a slant six but Iput in a 360 v8 could i still use the original rear end that was for the six ?? And if not what rear end would fit??
i would go with an 8 3/4 rear axle. more gears available and a lot stronger than the original.
But would the original work or just shred up ????
it depends on how you drive your car. my dad had a 69 dodge dart gts with the 340 and had a tunnel ram with 2 4's on it. i think he said he used the 7 1/4 rar axle. not really sure though will have to check with him this weekend.

Could I put a 8 3/4 rear end on my 74 dodge dart with no modifications???? Because i can get one right now for 300$??
Ummmmmmm... I dont think so. But I have been known to be wrong... But not often...
What would o haft to do to make it fitt??
Depending on what it's out of... Could be as easy as moving the spring perches to as hard as Narrowing the Diff it self.
Take some Measurement... Maybe someone has already done the work for you... You never know.... :) |
I found a 8 1/4 rear end for 200$ but it says is for a bbody will it work in my 74 dartbswinger????
No.You will find the housing to wide and the spring mounts in the wrong location...
