Another Newbie Mopar Owner

Hello Folks,,, I'm a new owner of an old wore out 65 Belvedere II that used to belong to my ex-brother-in-law. My nephew has asked I take the car and save it from salvage. I'll store it for a while , at least get the ol' girl covered up until I can twist wrenches on her. I don’t have the time to dedicate to the car until my house and shop is completed,, all I needed was another 'small' project.........

I've been lurking around here a bit and learning a little bit of info. As time goes on, I will be sure to pester ya'll with many questions on where I may find parts and pieces as I begin to resurrect this old car.

Later guys, Russ

Welcome!

Before you cover her up, give her a good cleaning. That will help to keep the mildew and rust from spreading.

re: cleaning

Thanks,,, yep,, planning to get the power washer to it this weekend. I pulled out huge amounts of junk and 3-4 bushel baskets of twigs, sticks, leaves and any other stuff the rats had packed inside. sucks,,,,

The car has been setting up for 20 years,,,, and until 2-3 years ago, all glass was still intact. The back glass was busted out for whatever the reason. The body is still in pretty decent conditon as the car was never wrecked. Front bump and valance has been bent to heck from people pulling the car out of their way from time to time, and a tree limb hit the front driver edge of the hood bending it up nicely.

The only good thing b-i-l did before forgetting about the car, was to pull the floor pan hole drain covers off.... which has saved the pans to a large extent.
When he and I were good friends out of high school, the car was absolutely pristine! Lots of good memories in that old ride. 273 with 3 speed on column. Gonna need lots of parts and pieces later.

Hey Russ.... Welcome to the forum... A project for sure but I have seen a LOT worse.... There is a lot of knowledge here and everyone is willing to share.... One thing we ask of all our members be sure to check out the Mopar of the Month contest... We have this each month and one car is elected by the votes of the members.... Hey, you never know your vote may decide whick car is selected. See the sticky on the forums page for the simple rules.....

Appreciate ya'lls welcome !

MReeves, I'll check out the contest. Thanks for the heads up. These owners/ brand specific sites are awesome. I have been a memebr of a couple boating fourms for many years. I have and race some high strung mercury outboard powered dragboats and own a diesel ford truck, and the sites I joined for both boats and diesel trucks have taught me a wealth of information over the years.
One thing about it, most dedicated and loyal owners are always willing to lend a hand or bend an ear in effort to help someone overcome the learning curves they themselves have either conquered or still experiancing.

Thanks guys, glad I found this site, I plan to utilize it quite frequently !

Russ
