Hello from Oceanside New York!

Hello everyone, my name is Lou, im 42yrs old. Ive tinkered with cars alot in my younger years, (17-24 or so)but havent had a "tinker car" in a while now.

Ive been a life long Mopar Fan since the first time i saw The Dukes of Hazzard when i was 9. Have wanted a 68-70 Charger ever since. Unfortunately, i havent made enough money to ever afford one, and when i was living in NYC most of my life, (just moved to Oceansude Long Island New York from Brooklyn) there wasnt much space to store/work on one, even if i did get it.

Over the years since seeing The Dukes, ive become a huge fan of Mopars, B-bodys in particular. Chargers, Super bees, Roadrunners etc. I also love 70 Challengers, 71 Satellites and Cudas though.

I am hoping that 2015 will be the year i acquire a Mopar Muscle car. Chargers are kind of out of my price range at the moment though. But, when i was a kid, there was a guy who lived a block away from me with a 71 satellite that was all "souped up" and even though the Charger is "my car" the 71 Satellite has a special place in my heart. So im going to look for one of those as soon as i can. I am hoping to learn from and get to know you all here and hopefully be able to eventually make my dream come true!

Welcome! Chargers are very pricey but there are good ones still out there that won't break the bank, it might bend a little but won't break. Keep your eyes open for those too, you just never know.. I found mine after 3 years of looking.. It's not perfect but just what I wanted.

Good luck!

If you haven't been so far, head out to the Bellmore train station Friday nights. The "official" (town sponsored) cruise-in are technically over, but people still show up as weather permits. There are car meets almost every night of the week, the the Bellmore train station is the biggest.

Also look into the Long Island Mopars club. http://www.longislandmopars.com/
Current we have over 700 members, and it's free! Great bunch of guys and gals.

Awesome thanks Archer! Just moving out here, this is excellent info! i will def check it out when i can! Do you frequent the cruise ins? Would love to meet another local Mopar head.

Myraman..thanks! yea i will always keep my eyes open for a Charger, because like you said, you never know..but im going to search for a 71 satellite sebring as well. I can work on that one, fix it up and hopefully acquire enough to get me closer to a Charger!

I usually do the Friday night Bellmore run, we have a good number of Mopars there and the club meets. Next club meet is Saturday the 25th in Commack. Can't make that one, work on Saturdays.

BTW - I have a Charger (check my photo albums), but the 70's Sebrings are basically the same car, and some folks think the lines are a little nicer.

Cool. Yea im still eyeballs deep in the renovation of my new place, so i wont likely be able to hit anything for at least a month.

Checked out your album with the Charger..its really nice! Def similar to the Sebring, but im still gonna keep my eye out for a sebring, and i'll always be looking for a 68-70 Charger. Right now im not working so that puts a damper on things lol, but i should be able to find a job soon and start getting myself on track

Thanks for the replies and info, hopefully i'll run into ya at one of the meets!
