B-Body Console
The back top of my console is cracked. It is the spot where people press on to get out. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this?
I will re-inforce underneath to add strength, but what do I use to fill in the crack before repainting the console?
What type of paint and what exact color is the console supposed to be?

I think maybe I remember an article where they used Devcon epoxy putty.
I know you can get it through MSC. I would think a vinyl dye would work. I think a ssemi gloss black would be close. (seems like my 66 charger was this color console)
It had a black interior. Look into it, i think Devcon has a helpline.

well, I remember way back in the eighties, we fixed my buds console in his 67 charger. We used some type of epoxy but I cand remember what type it was. crack was in the direct back. the epoxy looked good and worked good. I remember we backed the repair with a piece of thin alumnum sheet. Probably was not necessary. My bud worked at a car dealership and finished it out there.
Do not know what type of dye it was but it prolly was expensive being that he worked at a Mercedes dealership. BTW, I had originally paid for the car. It was $400 back in 85 I think. virtually no rust except for one small spot in rear quarter panel.

To insert the epoxy, did you first spread the plastic where the crack was to make sure that the glue got in?
How did you assure that it did not come out? Because once it gets on something, it never comes off.
