I threw this out a few months ago, but im too poor now to follow up. Mega-squirt efi is a system that allows you to build your own efi system from off the shelf components.MegaSquirt® FAQ Main Page www.MSefi.com • Index page

BTw are you using the right vacuum port? You want the timed vacuum port, not manifold.

Havent priced it,but some of the feedback put it in the 1000-1500 range. Really not a kit, seems to be a programmable processor that you can use junkyard parts for, O2 sensor, build you own intake or install bungs on yours for injectors. I read that with the efi you dont need a dual plane intake. I'll troll the sites this weekend for more info.

Yes, must use "ported" manifold vacuum sorce for the dizzy. This will be a port on the carb that has low to no vacuum while the engine is idling. Should have this indicated with the install instructions. (for locating it).
BTW, the engine must idle with the throttle plates not opening too far, otherwise it will defeat the idea of the "ported" vacuum. If the throttle blades, while idling, go past a certain point, they will uncover the port, thus adding vacuum at all times. This is one of the reasons that holley throttle plates are drilled with holes on the primary side by racers. Drilling small holes in the throttle plates lets added air enter the engine while keeping the throttle plates at a more optimum opening angle. This smaller angle keeps the idle transfer and ported vacuum operating as designed.

mega squirt could conceivably be very inexpensive if you know how to solder and like to scrounge parts a the junk yard. It was designed to be a learning tool to people wanting to learn about FI. Much reading is also required. If you wanted, you could even use an old carb as your throttle plate. just gut it and add a TPS sensor.
