I just picked up a very solid 68 sports fury with a 383 3speed for 1500 bucks. it has the towing package from the factory on it minus everything to tow **** with it.....which is good by me seeing as i want it as a street cruiser. it even has the adjustable rear air shocks with a control ****.

I recently bought a 1984 Dodge D100, regular cab short bed, with the 225 slant six. I've just started work on the body, someone befor me had torn it down to bare metal but didn't paint it, and now the surface rust is horrible. But i've got promising results so far on the hood. I also plan to pull the 225 and swap in a 1976 400 with the 727 tranny. Hopefully by next spring i'll have a decent little street truck.

Hi everyone,

Sounds like everyone very busy over the pond!! My list of ongoing projects on my 68 Polara include finishing the replacement of my power steering pump, fitting a nice repro passenger mirror (nice xmas present!!), fitting new voltage regulator, fixing my backup lamp switch and finally adjusting my rear driverside door as it is very slightly out of alignment. Steve - still sounds like a lot of work tho.

I've got another axle complete (78 Ford high pinion D60 front with 88 Ford outers) and ready for pickup this week and should have another (85 Chevy D60 front) completed but the end of this coming weekend. After that, there are still 3 (all 84-86 Ford high pinion D60 fronts) more to go. I've got to narrow one of them too and install an ARB locker.

Now thats a proper list of things to do!! Im having a nightmare trying to get a good seal on the reservoir on my steering pump. Ive just taken it off again!! Its driving me mad now but will persevere. The answer is there just waiting for me!! Ha ha. Good luck with the axles, sound like a very time consuming work. Oh, one good thing to add. I managed to fit my new mirror without any issues..... Looks good! Cheers, Steve

I'm working on an old gas pump. It was made by Aqua Systems. Not sure of the date but the 'T' indicates that it was made for Tydol. I've owned it for thirty years or so and just now gettin around to restoring it. Here's a 'before' picture. I hate the term 'rare' 'cause it's overused but I think this pump qualifies as such.

I love this gas pump!! I have to be honest and say I really like the original patina of it and really like it as it is. We dont get many here in the UK so its very rare to us. Good luck with the resto and really looking forward to seeing the finished item!

Tim and Heather, thanks for your encouragement. I put a few pictures on the albums section. They are not very good but will post some better ones when the weather improves. Eveything looks grey here at the moment....roll on the spring!

Just asked my 11yr old sons opinion on that fantastic gas pump. Its really got us talking about originality vs restored!!! We love 'American Pickers' and this is how we have left it..... We both agree it is VERY cool! He can see what I mean about originality but reckons not everyone will like it original but everyone will love it restored. I cant argue with that really! (damned kids these days!). We have this discussion regularly when we watch AP. Wouldn't life be boring if we all liked the same things, the same way!

I bought this a few months ago. A 1966 Plymouth Fury III, that was one owner(before I bough it of course), still had the title, had all of the orignal hubcaps, factory A/C, both Fender skirts, and still had a complete set of polyglas tires, and the original poly 318 motor, all for $800. When I got it, the engine was stuck, and the rear driver side's brakes were stuck. Within the first day I already had it running.

I 'liked' it that way for many, many years. I fought with myself many times about whether to restore it or not. I figure that I'm gettin old and if I ever want to restore it, nows the time.Glad you like it. I love 'American Pickers also. I remember when there were lots of places around here to 'pick'. They're almost all gone now.

Well I never got pics of the upstairs being finished but it is done. With the limited space that we have in our basement, I ended up building two shelving units for tools, supplies, misc turd. Here are some pics of the first one.

With the ever rising prices of oil, we needed a new primary source of heat that would be cheaper. So we did our research and figured out that a pellet stove would be best for us. We ended up going with a Harman P43 and it's been working out pretty good for us so far this year. Before we installed it though, I had the bright idea that we really should just redo the living room as well (two main reasons - Windows were drafty and the walls were not insulated).

So another room gets started on......


None of the windows were properly framed so a good friend came up and helped. Each one was removed, framed, reinstalled and caulked tighter than a dolphin's butt hole.




Next day we got the third window done and just in time too as it started to snow. We also Great Stuffed the turd out of any drafty spots that we could find and then insulated.



That afternoon and night it snowed really bad and the next day I spent cleaning up the yard. the day after I tore down the ceiling and made five trips to the dump since it was free due to them not having power.






After that was done, I finished running all new wiring and putting up the rest of the drywall. We also found a surprise in our chimney.

After that was all done, we taped, mudded, sanded, primed, painted and trimming. We built our own base for the pellet stove and did the install ourselves.






And now we can enjoy it. It took us ~3 weeks to complete it (that is with me doing most of the work by myself too).

I've been working on restoring an old tube radio that I picked up for 5 bucks in an antique store a while back. I got it looking pretty nice, next is stripping the guts, and turning it into a guitar amp!

Well that sounds like a great reason to restore your pump! I know you will have a great time doing it and preserving it for the next generations to enjoy. 100 years from now it will probably have that old look again and be ready for restoration number two! We would love to do some trips with a few spare dollars to see what we could 'pick'. I spent three weeks travelling around Nevada / Arizona/ Idaho / Oregon etc a few years ago. I was, and always have been, obsessed with American cars and Americana. My honeymoon album is full of photos of abandoned cars, cars for sale etc. Most of the junkyards here are full of late model imported cars so the days of scouring yards for bumpers etc for MGBs are long gone. Original parts are big business now, especially since ebay took over..... Shame really. We look forward to seeing your gas pump when its finished, good luck and best wishes.... Steve
