Question Are the 413 & 440 blocks EXACTLY the same?

i have a 1964 imperial it has the stock 413 in it im planning on making it a 440. i thought of something that could be an issue. My 413 has power steering AND Air conditioning. from what i seen most of these cars had either or but not both at the same time. my question is do all the 440s have the same bolt up holes as the 413? ot will they be missing spots for brackets. example what if the car the 440 was in originally didnt have A/C does that block still have bolts for the mounting brackets?

i want to be able to take my brackets A/C compressor, power steering pump and everything and bolt them straight onto a 440 block in the same original locations with no problems.

I read somewhere someone had a 440 with a high mount water pump that mean that blocks waterpump isn't in the same spot? his was a motorhome engine i forget the year.

the 440 im looking at buying is a 1976 motor home engine.

sorry for the wall of text. thanks for the help in advanced i googled this and couldn't find an answer.

Not all 440 blocks are the same, latter ones have at least one more boss on the front.

They are NOT THE SAME AT ALL. Nothing... not a bit... totally different.

So... before you do anything more... see MY THREADS... as I now have a 440-3 I am building... FROM A MOTORHOME.

All the parts are special, and I am sharing the numbers and info as I have them. So check my posts... and I'll chat with you THERE.

What parts are special and why? The motor that I have been building is from a motor home and all the parts on it were purchased as just a typical 440. Everything fits very well. I have a water pump and housing from 440 source, edelbrock rpm intake, moroso oil pan, edelbrock fuel pump, rebuilt and ported 915 heads and a whiplash cam from Hughes engines. There wasn't a problem with installing any of this and most of it was already on the motor for the last 15 years or more and it ran great.

i just tore my engine apart that i bought the 440 donor it has a gasy smell in the oil, and there was antifreeze in the heads on the springs. i not cleaned them to find out what heads they are i beleive they are open chambered, i already bought the waterpump and housing from 440 source the thick gasket with the full polished housing and pump in one kit. also go their timing cover and their distributor then i bought the plug wires, MSD 6a box with no rev limiter on it. im looking at using the hughes whiplash cam but i am worried about my cars 5,000 pounds stock 1800 stall and 2.94 gears im looking at putting 3.23 gears instead. im stuck with my 1800 stall no matter what it seems i want the whiplash cam but worried about vacuum for my brakes..... another question any reason the very back two cylinders would have about a half cup of oil in them when i took the heads off? i can feel the cylinders and you can slightly feel a bump its not real big im thinking it might need bored idk its smooth though you cant catch a fingernail or nothing on it however.

okay did more research the only thing different about the 440-3 block is the EXTRA cooling option it had compared to the older blocks that didnt have any cooling, the only thing different was the waterpump with a nipple ontop ( earlier 440s pumps had no nipple & hose going to the block )that puts coolant into the block that then runs up and goes through the heads.. all i have to do to change it is 1) put a standard 440 waterpump on it with no nipple making it where no coolant can even get to the heads, 2)then use standard head gaskets with no coolant ports put in them. and boom i pretty much have an original non-water cooled old 440 block. from what i read these later blocks are actually just as good if not better then the older 440s for the fact if the extra "ribs" it has on the sides.... other than this there seems to be no difference. and all my 413 stuff should bolt right up to the 1973 440-3 i have
