Blown engine??
last night my friend was driving his truck. He went about 50 miles and them noticed light smoke coming from under the hood. when he tried to accelerate it was kind of sluggish. Pulled over and checked the oil. it didnt have any. Filled it up with oil and drove fine for bout 10 minutes when he said it died and all the water was coming out from somewhere. he couldnt see from exactly where but said somewhere from the back of the engine. sound like he blew it?

He could of still had a little in there, just not enough to regsister on the dip stick. I'm going to say that a blown head gasket is the luckiest thing, if thats the only thing that let go. You'll want to check compression, plugs, oil/water/coolant mixed in the radiator, etc..

sounds like me, i bought a gmc once it had a diesil in it and the guy put a 403 olds in it, it smoked he said that was cuz of there was some diesil in the tank, drove it for a week, well the truth was it was burning oil. going down the highway it started slowing down i pull over had no oil, bought 4 quarts but it was too late fired it back up and ppl started running from it cuz the noise it made, a friend lived a mile from the gas station got on the hwy, i pushed it hard blew 4 rods out of the bottom end and cut the oil pan and block into peices, i coasted it down hill to his place, put a 350 in it and sold it,, kinda off of your topic,, and i hope its just a head gasket! good luck
