ignition troubles

I have a 67 r/t coronet with an interesting issue I hope someone can help me with. I have an intermittent stalling problem with the car. I will be driving the car and the engine witll shut off. It does not stutter or stumble it just shuts off. I maintain headlights radio etc... sometimeds it starts right back up. Sometimesd I have to crank oit over for a long time before it will start. It left me stranded until I changed the ballast and voltage rgulator. I have changed the coil, ballast resistor, voltage regulator and rewired from the ballast forward. After changing the ballast and voltage regulator I did not have the problem for a while. I think I have a problem that is taking out my voltage regulator and I'm dropping voltage to the coil. THe problem is so intermittent that I have not been able to verify voltage to coil, etc.. Any suggestions?

Have you checked the connections through the firewall connector? These have become a HUGE issue, especially now that all these cars are old, suffer somewhat from corrosion and rust.

That's were i was going next but could this be a distributor issue? I have the car put away for the winter and I have limited access to the drivers side of the car. I actually have a hole in the firewall were I noticed thered is a missing grommet. I should probably look here first. I would love it if it was that easy. thanks

I will X3 on the firewall connections!

Does the car still have points? I once had a problem similar to yours and it was the condenser in the distributor. I installed an old one that I had in my tool box and I was good to go.

No points it has been converted. I hope it can get a chance to dig into wiring this weekend.
