MOPAR Distributor Help
Hey, I found this distributor in the parts room at my father's speed shop. I have a hunch that it is something more than a regular chrysler distributor. Can someone help me ID it? I found this number on it, 369020, and I have pictures below. Thanks, Steve

I used to have a cast iron "hemi" tach drive which I ran in my 440.
If you can't track the number, "spring" the rotor and see which way it goes. The BB engines rotate CCW, so if you can move it CCW, it fits a BB.
Then the second thing to find out is whether it's a long shaft--for raised block or hemi's, or a short shaft, for low blocks, like 383
If the rotor moves CW, it fits a small block.
I 'spose' there's some possibility it fits some early hemi.

the correct # is 3690201, it is a '73 RB w/tach drive. Fits auto and manual, all bodies w/factory RB engine Being a '73 unit would make it for a 440.
( RB: 383, 413, 426 Wedge (not Hemi), 440 )

'Tis true, but being a '73 part, the 383/426 were well out of production. I assumed he was looking for OEM install info, which can only be 440 for '73.

ya but.......go back and read your own post.
First, I'm not sure your info is correct. I'm not aware that a tach drive dist. of that nature was factory in 73 440's. Is this an electronic igniton distributor? It doesn't appear to have a vac advance, therefore it would not have been OEM in 73?
Additionally, you posted what I quoted above, indicating that a 383 was an RB, and you specifically exempted the hemi, as if it would not fit.

Here is where I got the info relating to year based on supplied part #
http://lightningjar.com/mopar/partnu...stributor4.txt
Here is where I found the info regarding which motors (RB) it will fit, not necessarily what motor it is correct for:
http://www.yearone.com/updatedsingle...gineinfo4.html
and
http://www.yearone.com/updatedsingle...gineinfo1.html
the last one clearly states that the Hemi is not among the RB family. Hope that clears things up.

You misunderstood part of what I meant. I understand what an RB is, I've owned a few.
What I'm saying is---IF this is a long shaft distributor, meaning it will fit an RB, IE 413, 426 wedge or 440--it WILL also fit a 426 hemi.

Regarding your 3690201 distributor, it was an over the counter high performance offering through Chryslers "Direct Connection" among other names. I believe in 1973 their high performance parts program was called "Mopar Hustle Stuff" . This distributor was for racing purposes but was also used by a lot of guys on the street. Their race program cars did not use a vacuum advance. This distributor you have will work on any Raised Block Chrysler engines like 413, 426 or 440 wedge engine's and 426 hemi's as well.
