Another Save From the Crusher Man.....

Well I haven't posted much here in a while but I did get the yellow Newport ('77) fixed and running well, (thanks for all that helped) and I had resurrected that original thread when I acquired another Newport ('72), but a new thread is in order for my next project, although the last purchased Newport was bought with the intentions of it becoming a 'donor' for a smaller Mopar Project. Still haven't found exactly the one but this one is in the running for upgrades.....

http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...u/HPIM1214.jpg

Its a little rough inside as the PO was a dumb *$$ and removed stuff, lost it threw it away etc.... But Its safe now and may live again.... It has the /6 auto, with the 7 1/4 NOW but i have pieces parts laying around so it may end up with the '72's drive train, or maybe the 72's engine/trans to the '77 and the '77's 440 / trans in it.... decisions decisions....

Was told that the engine wouldn't run but hey dealin' with non-car ppl, i had it fired up and running in 15 minutes .... All it needs to be a driver is cleaned OUT and a new master cyl., and the shifter linkage looked @... (started in gear trying to go forward, shifter showed to be in reverse!!!) Sorry about no thumbs... Dunno how , and cant figure out how to re-size on this computer.

Wow you definetly wont find anything like that laying around anywhere North, it would have rusted out 15 years ago by now here.

Well time for a little update...I have just been lurking around and entered the Volare in a local Hooters car show in sept. only class it would go in is '70's car class (a tough class, chevelles camaros torinos firebirds monte carlos, sheeze it never ends....lol), no unrestored barn find class but oh well... as i said it is missing a few interior parts but still did ok in the show.... 1st Place!!!!

I have some pics posted of the clean-up on the interior here...http://s691.photobucket.com/albums/v...view=slideshow

Now looking for a direction to go with the car.... leave it be?, turbo the slant?, 400-727 swap.... have located the missing parts but havent went to pick em up... Show season is over for now anyways...

First, congrats on the first place.

Second, that is one fine looking barn find

Third, I don't think I've ever seen a BB F-Body. How awesome would THAT be to embarrass the **** out of Hondas and Mustangs?

I can see it now...

Ricer 1: You go beat by WHAT?!?

Ricer 2: A Volare? WTH is a Volare?

Ricer 1: I think my Grandmother had one LOL!

LOL!!! thanks guys for the kuddos.... Yeah I could actually do a BB in one of 2 ways.... I am using the '77 'Port with the 440 in it for my daily right now, but i could do a swap and put the 400-727 in the '77 (its in a 71 'Port), then put the 440 in the Volare, or just put the 440 in and use it for the daily, or just build the 400 into a stroker of some kind and use it..... as i said before decisions, decisions..... But a friend of mine is really wanting me to turbo the /6, which would definitely be different.... Altho it has a 904 auto in it it is actually a manual car... clutch pedal still there.... it was buried under the carpet when i got the car....

Lol no.... think it actually got tossed, but it wasn't made for the car anyways, looked like it came out of an 80's conversion van of some kind....
