1974 duster 225 slant six problems

Well I have a 1974 plymouth duster that was my daily driver for about a week and I was replacing the ditributor rotor and cap apparently rockauto sent me the wrong cap cause the rotor got jammed in it n busted it and busted the gear on the end of the distributor so I put the old cap rotor and distributor in and its so close to starting but wont its getting fuel and spark and I dont no what to do any suggestions?

Ive reset the timing by moving the fan blade till it hits zero then putting the distributor in with rotor facing number 1

Im about to pull the valve cover to make sure 100% that the timing is right and I also bought a new distributor thats going on tomorro just to see if it could be that but other then that I dont no what to do

Don't forget to pull the number one spark plug and check it to make sure your on number one compression stroke and then set damper to 0 and reinstall dist to number 1 order....

I'm guessing you might have the dist phase out 180*

Well I thought that two n thats y I turned the fan all around again n it sets it exactly at 180 n I set the distributor then when I try to start it it pops if the new distributor tomorrow doesnt work im taking it to a place thats gonna charge me $48 to tell me whats wrong

Still sounds like the dist is out of time Popping ? it may be 180 out .

that distributor is absolutely not set properly, it may only be off by 1 tooth. Those slantys can be tricky to get right on. set the No.1 cylinder to top dead center on the compression stroke. see where the rotor points, i'd bet it's either 18 out or it lands between posts. mark the base of the distributor in line with the #1 tower with a marker and set it so the rotor is pointing to your mark and it should fire right up. from there set your timing and enjoy the ride.

Put a new distributor in n still didnt work turned distributor all the way to the left n ran good so I took it back out moved it clock wise one and she runs good thanks everybody
