the temp sensor should be 1/4" NPT thread, not 3/8". Are you sure that it is a coolant port?

Just hit the 'new posts' or do a search. I haven't got this thing down pat either. Probably better ways.

About the hole in intake I was thinking of that temp sensitive vacuum deal that they used during the smog years. Had about three ports to hook up vacuum lines[?].[I guess it worked like a vacuum switch] The only other guess is that there was a thread adaptor in there to reduce the hole down to 1/4 inch. Only things I can think of right now. Smog year motors were kinda crazy with the plumbing and electrical and vacuum lines. worse comes to worse you could plug it or use adaptor or maybe if you got a good parts guy, he can find one that works. I'm thinking temp. senders are application specific to the dash; actual gauge or idiot light equipped.{?} Mopar tended to use mostly gauges for the temp reading. GM liked to use the idiot lights.
