65 Dart

just picked up a 65 2 dr Dart with V8 (273-2 bl) and auto. How do I identify which transmission and rear end are in it? I think it has posi since both rear tires turn and burn. Will a new 340 crate motor hook up to the current motor mounts and tranny and will this tranny and rear end take the increased HP? this is all new to me, so it will be a journey of discovery (and not too expensive I hope). don't want a monster car, but want something that gets a little attention.

thanks

65 dart

From the little i know and for what it is worth the drivers side mount is different on the 360 from all the other small block.
Glad to see another 65 dart out there. I have been racing mine since 93.

the motor mounts are different there are4 different motor mounts, one for slant 6, one for 273/318, one for 340/360 and one for the B/RB, if you need a swap kit go to engine swaps dot com or here ManciniRacing

Increased HP = expense ! I doubt that drivetrain of yours will hold up to more HP, considering it's original configuration and age.
