How did you pull the rod out? There is a slip ring where the rod meets the valve body and that is how I removed mine and would recommend doing. That might help you see what you are doing.
Will check my 727 manual and see if that says anything about putting that back in.

That's called the park lock control rod. Below is what the manual says:
"Slide the park rod into position and engage it in the parking sprag in the extension housing. You may need to rotate the output shaft while you push the rod into the sprag. Position the rod with the pin facing the bottom of the transmission."

Yea, what Commando said... It will go back in, but it can be frustrating some times. I think the one thing you have to do is take it OUT of park, any gear as long as it lets the tail shaft rotate.
The square drive, you can get a 1/4 in socket that fits that adjuster. I think I got mine at Sears, but even Jap sets can be found that have em.

Slip, pop, force, something, lol. It will probably take some effort, but it will go back in there. I think I've only had one that just slipped back into place. Once it's in place, you'll be able to tell, it won't pull back out easy. Make sure you look at where it's going back in, you'll see one crescent shaped bevel. Keep the ball at the widest part of the bevel. Sooner or later it will go back in. Good Luck. One other thing I've done, remove the rod from the valve body (c clip on the other end.) Get it back in place, then re-install the rod onto the valve body. A pair of hemostats helps a lot to put the c clip back.

so i know it need to be out of park but it lets me out of park but i dont have any gears cause the valve body isnt in and it wont let me rotate the driveshaft to get it in should i lift the rear wheels to let the drive shaft rotate?

ok so i adjusted the bands and put everything back and the same thing is happening.... i go from any gear to R and it engages then stalls out, if i put it in R and real quickly give it gas i will go into reverse but the rpms are on the 0 maybe alittle higher and it sounds like it will give out at any second

I dunno what to tell you. It just about has to be something to do with the kit, it was fine before the kit went in, right? If the band adjustment is correct, then I'd guess that something in the kit is defective, passing pressure thru the valve body to let both pistons apply when you put it in reverse.

I know you used a different kit then me, but the instructions for mine had all 3 applications in the same set, so there might have been a step for the off-road applications, but I had to read the instructions carefully as there were certain parts of the step I had to do and parts just for off-road. If you had my kit I would assume that could have caused an issue, but not knowing the make-up of your instructions it could also be the same thing.

Clogged, or low on fluid perhaps. Have you checked the fluid levels after you put the kit in? The lines could have drained, possibly air in the system from what I said before.

sorry to bring that thread back up but im just wondering if my cordoba has the torquflite 904 or 727, i thought that cordobas came with the 727 but for some reason i think mine has a 904 can you tell by what the gasket look like?
