I need help

I have a 1992 Dodge Ram V6 3.9 L with a manual tranny. My tranny is stuck in first gear. I can move the shifter all over the place but it wont change gears. It might be a broken fork Im not real sure can anyone help.

stuck shifter

Pull the floor plates from the shifter area. Then pull the three bolts from the in trans shifter ( some had hex head and others had 6 point heads on the boltts). At the bottom of the shifter you will find a plastic ball with two pins. Check these for ware and/or breakage. When you are ready to re assemble the shifter use a large phillips screw-drive and move the trans to nurtral, incert shifter, snug down the shifter plate bolts by hand equally. Insure shifter changes gears properly. Then give the trans shifter bolts one half to 3 quarters tightening turn. Theis should take care of your problem. I had the same problem with my sons Dodge Shadow. Good luck
