Question Drilling/tapping intake manifold for vacuum port?

My '69 RR has a Team G intake and a Demon Dominator carb.

Hood clearance is a bit of a problem, so it's been running without an air cleaner since it was built

After some quick measurements, I figured I could ditch the 1" carb spacer to make some room for a custom air cleaner

Pulled the carb to rebuild over the weekend and realized the spacer had the only vacuum port

So now the plan is to drill and tap the intake for a vacuum port, but after eyeballing the intake, the front and rear walls look to be much thicker than the sidewalls

They're also curved whereas the sides are flat.

I've always seen ports tapped into the front or rear of race intakes, but would I have any issue tapping into the sidewall?

I figure vacuum is vacuum, right?

Id be too afraid that there would be an imbalance issue from taping into the sidewall. if this is an aluminum intake I would suggest using wax to drill and tap the hole.

Ive drilled and tapped with out issue. I always made sure there wasnt any protrusion into the intake.

Have you done it to the sidewall?

The actual drilling and tapping isn't an issue as I've done plenty of hidden fogger kits, but I've never really done a lopsided vacuum port before

Keep in mind this will be used for PCV, so I'm curious if an imbalance of oil vapor being plumbed into only one side might cause an issue

See where the V shape is right below the spacer. I would drill and tap the hole right in the center of the V in the back.

I would tap the front or back. The curve wont come into play since the wall is thick enough to get sufficient thread.
