Help running a new 440
Wonder if someone can help with a newbie question on how to tune a newly rebuild engine. I’ve messed about with engines in the past but never tuned an engine from new.
I have a mopar 440 with some mild edelbrock upgrades (performer cam / heads). I’ve just run the cam in and am looking to set the engine to run properly
I also have a new 1406 edelbrock carb and MSD ready run distributor fitted as well as an innovate air fuel ratio wide band sensor.
At the weekend I was playing around with the timing and idle setting and idle mixture screws but was doing it methodically. E.g. I set the static timing, adjusted the idle, this then changes the timing and so on. Can someone give me a steer on the step by step process for setting timing and carb?

Set the base timing to 12*
Set the advance to 28* @ 2500RPM
Adjust the carb in gear @ Idle (750-650RPM)
Adjust Idle Air Mix Screws in gear... Screw in till it stumbles. Then turn out till it runs smooth and the add in one Full Extra turn.
Then go drive the **** out of it !!
Readjust when the weather changes...
