Making a little progress but
This 1405 carb bolted directly onto my 340 intake I had bought an adapter plate but no matter how many ways I flipped or turned it the holes to mount it on the intake wouldn’t line up. Do you gentlemen think this will work? Thanks for the advice colorful ain’t it

Thanks for taking the time to reply to be honest I am pretty much confused with the whole spread bore square bore deal. I bought the eldbrock universal adapter plate and I messed with that thing for 2 hours flipping it upside down sideways the only holes that would line up were for the carburetor studs but the carburetor bolted on and the secondary’s open

I get that but is the cast iron intake I have a spread bore intake? Lol I am a dense one no doubt I am just worried about it leaking I used a square bore gasket the seemed to fit fine except not between the holes there is nothing how’s your Monday?

In between the holes can be open if the gasket covers the outer edges, the spred bore carb has larger secondarys so the rear openings are much larger, larger than a gasket for a square bore carb were all the barrels are the same size. So if your carb has all barrels the same size your manifold sould reflect that. If it has larger openings in the rear but an adapter plate will fix that.
it would have helped if you posted pictures of the manifold and the bottom of the carb.

I also bought this adapter plate but no matter which way I turned it sideways upside down every possible way I could sit it on that intake I tried And the holes for the screws that mount the plate to the manifold would not line up. Only the holes for the studs for the carburetor would line up ( poorly explained)

Dont worry about the adapter... You dont need it in this case....
I do hope you used the lower gasket in the Photo...
For the gsket you can use the 4 hole or the open as long as it seals a round the base like Iowan stated...

That manifold is missing one ear for the bolt for the carb, theres a good chance you will warp the carb tring to use it with tree bolts.

Thank you guys for your time and advice. I am putting the headers on next weekend change the oil and it should be just about ready to see what I have.
