Motor help 318 or 360 for my 1985 D100
Hey guys im new to mopar stuff and I just bought a 1985 Dodge D100 short box 2wd factory 4spd truck I believe the transmission is a 833. It is a 318 truck but I bought the truck and it didn't have the motor so im trying to find a good used or rebuilt 318 to put back in it. A few of my friends keep telling to just put a 360 in it I was wondering will a 360 bolt right into my truck? Or is there a lot of things ill have to change? Id like to keep the original 4spd and would like to make the swap just a nice reliable weekend cruiser. And if anyone has a good 318 or 360 in the Michigan, Ohio, Indiana area please let me know im having a hard time finding one that runs or doesn't need to be overhauled. Thanks alot

Welcome.
1- Slight difference in motor mount block attachment, no big deal
2- 318 internal balance, 360 external balance, big deal. Will need 360 flywheel to keep proper engine balance.
3- Will need truck oil pan, 318 and 360 rear oil pan seal different size.
That`s about it everything else will interchange, bellhousing, front cover, distributors and manifolds.

Well I tried, welcome to the site. A 318 is easier and you can pretend it's fun!

I got a motor I found a 1986 Dodge D150 318 V8 with 72K original miles motor and transmission complete for $300 bucks. I guess my next question is the carb needs to be rebuilt on it it runs but has a little studder to it would I be better off to change it to a 4barrel or just keep the 2 barrel factory carb on it.

What do you guys think of this package? I can get a good deal on this package if this will work on my motor. http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/3776PK/10002/-1

I like it, and I like good prices. It's a nice small cam which looks like the numbers show it will perform as advertised.
I put this in our 318 truck: http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=625&sb=2
I would like to know if it can be run with stock springs or what they recommend.
