Whats the best spark plug to use?

I have a 65 Fury with a 383 and It has champion plugs in it, which I've never been a fan of. Is there any brand you've found that works best with the 383?

The parts guy at my local Federated auto supply told me Champions used to be good, then they got really bad, and now they're back to being good. Perhaps your champions were made when they were bad? He told me NGK plugs were excellent. I then bought 4 cases of Champions, made in the USA.

CHAMPIONS are the plug of choice for Mopars. In my opinion they are the only plug for Mopars, NGK is a forgien car plug..But you know what they say about opinons there like as-holes everyone has one...Bill

I mean there is a whole science behind spark plugs and their optimum heat range, gap, etc... but, I have always heard that Champions just run better in Mopar. May have to buckle down and do the research online.

My personal experience is that it doesn't make much difference. I have run champion in my mopars and NGK in small engines particularly two stroke (lawn mowers, fourwheelers, dirt bikes etc..)

Just my two cents.

Champions are made in Mexico. Only thing in the champion from here is the Core. That's done in Ohio. Dam Shame too, I might add.......

I Like NGK GR4 myself.... Works for me......
Autolites work ok... Champion work ok....Bosch works ok... Ect...
I just have better luck with NGK lasting longer between tune-ups and the plug looks better when it comes out...
Just my 2 cents

Change the plugs every 30k in a new Hemi? Wow that's outrageous!!! Why haven't they gone to 100k plugs.

Hey Bob, Just got back from Car Quest and the plugs are copper cored I thought they were platnium they are made inthe USA in MI. The plug number is 570 and@ $2 ea. So they are not what I thought or was told by the great parts guy at the dealership I worked for. I should of know when he fired back when I asked for plugs for my truck. "There platnium how many miles are on it". I hope they come out ok...Bill

Dave, Even Toyota Tacoma's 4.0 V-6's..... Every 36,000 it's recommended for replacement... And they are platinum...

Bill... I did say wrong... They are put together in Mich....
Now there could have been a change, But when I did a factory walk threw a few years ago, That was what it was. Cheaper to do it else ware...

I'm going to say you'll do 16 plugs...lol Those last two you will have some choice words for.

My guess as to why they are useing copper cored plugs instead of platinum is to either get the plugs out of the heads at a scheduled interval so the dont sieze in there Or to make service work for the techs in the dealerships...Look at the intervals of differential services 15,000 miles and its synthetic gear lube that to me is insane.. back in the day nobody serviced them...It is all a money making scheme...Bill

I wouldnt change them that often I would wait to 60,000 miles. In my truck the parts store had a platinum plug listed but it takes me 10 years to get 40,000 on my truck so I opted out and said I will have to replace them in a few years just to get them out any way so why spend the extra ...Bill

Well I changed the plugs and it wasnt to bad about 1.5 hrs. The 2 under the brake booster were a little tight. I started on the hard side (Left Bank) so when I got to the Right Bank it was a cake walk. The plugs were worn from .045 to .070-.075 gap So not quite .080 gap but what a difference in the way it runs..I also cleaned the throttle body, it was quite dirty considering the way I change the oil...But over all pretty easy with the right tools but I also have done a few in my day so for some reason I didnt remember them not being platinum plug must of been a brain fart which gets more frequent the older I get.....Bill

I am way out of me element here anyway... I don't usually keep a car long enough to put tires or brakes on it let alone plugs!

30+ cars since I was 16... I am 31 now.
