How do I know if I've got a lock-up torque converter?

Back after a long hiatus guys, sorry.
I'm also back to work on Old Red's restoration. This year the project is the automatic transmission and transfer case. I checked the documentation for the transmission and I'm confused. The original equipment is a 727 torque flight. I did a little research and I think it has a lock-up torque converter. I went online to multiple parts distributors though and all they sell is non-lock-up transmissions. What do I need to look for to be sure I'm getting the right parts?

Not fully understanding the problem.... But if the truck has the OD trans still in it, Yes it will need a OD converter.

Bob, He is talking about lock up converters not overdrive converters... The easiest way to tell is drive it and count the shifts and when you feel the 1000 rpm drop after it goes in drive that is lockup...Also by the input shaft but that requires the removal of the transmisson and converter the shaft will have a small splined section in front of the lager splines...Bill

Thanks guys, but do you know if there is a way to identify it before I pull the transmission? I'm not sure I'll be able to tell by counting the shifts and watching the rpm. Bob, so you know, this is for my W-150 and I'm not sure a racing transmission would be suitable in a 4x4. I'm open to any ideas though so please, keep them coming

Call him for just the parts you'll need. Don't need to be for racing parts... Just heaver duty stuff....
Pull the trans pan... Look at the valve body... If it has the tube that runs back to the lock up module then it has a lock up converter.
