rear suspension
What can I do to get the rear of my 1974 Charger raised like many of us did in the 70's. It's too low as it sits now for wheels with too much width? Please be specific as possible? Thank you for taking the time to reply!

my idea is yours might have sagged over time. if so the thing to do is find a shop that does leaf springs. they should be able to rearch the springs, to the right curve. that way you wont have those ugly shackles, that makes it look like a teenager owns it. just one idea.

New or re-arched springs would be safer, the longer you make the skackles the more unstable the rear of the car becomes and you could feel alot of swaying on the highway.
My mechanic friend tells me there are very good air shock designs today, might be worth looking into.

springs
http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/33-907.htm I just bought these from E-Bay for my `73 Roadrunner. Haven`t put them on yet, but they have thick leaves that are cut off square on the ends, not tapered. I want to raise the rear end to fit 15x10`s and 28x12 MT tires.

Back in the day (70s) everyone was running air shocks and putting 90psi in the shocks. (max was 120psi) it made the car very bouncy in the rear. But nobody knew any better because we hadn't driven the cars of today with the superior handling we have come acustom to. So springs are probably the best bet with a sway bar and new nitrogen shocks...Bill
