shoc recommendation
hi,
new to the forum and also to mopars. i have just bought a 1983 d150 short bed with a 225 slant 6 and a auto trans. i'm gathering the parts to lower it and it seems the popular way to lower the front is to change the control arms to the A100 van type. from my understanding of what i've read, i'll get about a 2 1/2" drop. i have a few questions regarding this. is there a spring that will drop it further? i seem to remember reading that maybe a volare or a valiant may bring it down more? i also bought a axle flip kit for the rear which is said to lower the back 5-6" and i'm a bit concerned that the back will be lower than the front if i just change the a arms so i was wondering how i could get the front lower if that is the case. also, can anyone give me a shock part number for the front that will work?

The Volare or Valiant do not have front springs they have torsion bars. I believe you could shorten the front springs on your truck one coil but I’m not sure you would want to, a 2 1/2 inch drop is quite a lot on a 2 Wheel dr.. I would think the flip kit will level it out just fine…

I don’t know I’ve never done the swap but I’m thinking probably not, looking through the shock catalogs should give you the answer.
