1969 Super bee hood question

I recently acquired a 1969 Super Bee and its got the hinged metal hood. I saw another Bee this past weekend with a similar hood and it appears that the front of hood is supposed to "curl" down and be somewhat flush with the front grille work. My hood does not "curl down" but is straight across with a noticeable gap between the hood and grille. Is there some sort of "curl" piece that is missing from my hood? Or perhaps its a different hood? In the Year One catalog I notice no separate trim pieces that would fill this void. However, looking at various pics of 1969 Bees, it looks like some hoods "curled" down and others were straight across.

Was the "curl" added mid year or something?
