67 bed on a 78?
Hey guys! I just picked up a project 78 power wagon long bed for my daughter, that her and I are going to get going before she turns 16. The bed needs replaced, I found a 67 long bed step side locally, I know they made some changes in 72 but would the 67 bed fit on a 78?

You can make anything fit anything if you have enough get’er done…
Seriously it might be a bolt on, or you might have to drill a few holes or fabricate a few things, but I can’t imagine it being a big deal.

that’s kinda of what I’m thinking. Looking at 67 vs 78 beds they look the same but the mounts may be a little different but I’m sure I can make it work. My wife and I decided that we would find out which vehicles the kids want as they are growing up and get it for them and fix it up together and have it ready by the time they turn 16. My daughter just turned 15 and she picked a power wagon. Looks like the bed got rear ended so it’ll need replaced, she really likes the look of a step side but finding a long bed step side is proving harder than I thought. But I’m sure in the next year we’ll be able to figure it out.

The one thing I don’t know is how the gas tank is mounted, I can’t remember if it’s on the frame or the box or both…

I am kinda confused on that, because it has a filler neck mounted on the bed and on the cab. I crawled under it and there is a tank under the bed that I could verify that the filler on the bed went to but I’m not sure about the filler on the cab

1967 The Fuel tank was mounted behind the seat in the cab...
1978 The Fuel tank was mounted inside the frame on the drivers side....
And I agree... You can make it fit if you have the resources and some talent and fab skills...
Best of luck... Keep us posted... Cheers...

I'm pretty sure that 1974 or 1975 was the change over year from behind the seat to the under the bed for the light duty trucks....
Is i possible the cab may have been changed? or someone just added an extra tank?
You have an interesting project here!!!

I’m fairly sure that the cab tank was a factory install, it had the factory switch on the dash for front and rear tank plus all the plumbing looked OEM…
