Core Support Typo?
All,
I'm new to the forum but have owned my 68 GTS convertible for over thirty years (great car!). I have a core support code question. When replacing my anti-freeze warning decal I noticed that the code stamped into the core support is not quite correct. My VON from the fender tag is 766841, but on the core support it is stamped B8L768641 (middle two digits transposed). Anyone seen this before? Is it common? I don't want to misrepresent this as a matching numbers car. Note, I bought it from the original owner who bought it with a few thousand miles on it as a dealer demo in Dec 1968 (got the invoice).
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Thanks, Bob!
She was lovingly restored in 1991-1992 and has held-up exceptionally well. (Helps that she's been garage kept her whole life!) Other than a few tiny nicks in the paint from being driven over 20,000 miles, it still looks like a recent restoration! Big thanks to my car buddy in Florida that made sure I didn't cut any corners and watched over me as I put her back together! I do recall we removed the paint on the trunk lip and found the matching number there, but it was rather faintly stamped and essentially disappeared after the new primer and paint were applied. Other than her tranny being swapped out at some point before I bought her, she's pretty much all there. I have two broadcast sheets, the dealer invoice to the first owner (I'm the 2nd), the Certicard, correct date-coded alternator,... This core support number is the only puzzle, really...

Mopar Lover
Russ,
Nice car and well kept !!!! It sounds Like.
As for the core support, I am wondering if it was just pulled from out of sequence or maybe damaged at some point? You know Dealer or transportation?
If you can get him to answer Steve Magnante may be able to answer that question for you / us. He is over on YouTube and Facebook. But he is hard to get ahold of... Very knowledgeable in Mopar stuff like that.
Just a direction to hunt in.
