400 big block help.

Hi there, I recently picked up a 1987 dodge d150. Here are the current stats and some concerns as I am looking for some guidance.

400 big block (camper engine I believe)
rv cam of course
holley 750 (seems to be running too rich) 650 better?
727 tranny
9.25 rear end which I believe is out of a van.
2500 stall.
Was told that it is equipped with a set of 3.22's. I am wanting to run the 355's that it came with. It is a 2 wheel drive truck so that you know.

1.) Which carb is best or what i have?
2.) Should I switch the gears?
3.) how to I get the truck low for cheap?

Thanks for your help in advance.

1) The Holley is a good carb as long as you have the time to tune it properly (IMO). I personally like the Edlebrock carbs as most of the time you can slap them on an run it with very little tuning. I would run that motor with a 650CFM carb as a 750 sounds a little too big. If the 400 was out of a car, that may be a different story then.

2) If you are going to be doing any towing or hauling (even if you only think that you may) change the gears to 3.55 (if you think that you may tow/haul) or 3.90 (if you are going to tow/haul).

3) what do you mean by "low"? Do you mean lower it?
