What would cause a stock 318 to require a to fully warmed up at least 10min before driving? I swear if it's even 9 min she will not drive when putting it into gear. She likes to be fully warmed up and ready before you even think of going. I was thinking of either going with a better carb or the efi kit eventually but that will be a few months out.

I was thinking that..it's been 15 years since I have had a carbed engine and I am relearning. I need to find a manual and re-learn it all.

What would you recommend for a stocker then? I was going to get an efi kit, but my wife was in a wreck on the 2nd. She was hit head on by a drunk driver and the $ I was going to use for the kit is now a down payment on another car. The driver was in a rental and the fled on foot. They have still not been located.
The black ford escape was hers.

I was slowed down a bit from working on the old truck... I was ordering an efi kit and a long list of 'wants' now I'm buying another car. Any suggestions on a sub $500-$600 carb if I can't get this one running well?

The black Ford escape was ours. My wife has 4 herniated discs and a plethora of other issues. The driver was in a rental and fled the scene on foot.

OMG.... I am sooooo Sorry to hear this !!!! I hope your wife is going to be ok? We will keep her in our Prayers for sure! Hope they find the person that left the seen.
Maybe check with your local Napa store and see if they can source a remanufactured one or can send yours to some to have it rebuilt.
Hope your insurance helps out on the coverage, Best of luck
