Another dumb Q - this time, transmission related

Hi Guys

I'm hoping to clean up some of the play in my 4 speed. However, anytime I look up information about the 4 speed shifter, the only thing I find is information on "Hurst" shifters...Are all A833 transmission shifters made by Hurst? Can I just buy a stock style aftermarket replacement? Or I also see a lot of "hurst rebuild kits" for the A833...can I rebuild my stock shifter with that?

Thanks for the help

Hi RacerHog - thank you again for the help.

So I'm thinking something off this page would be my best bet. http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.php?cat=52 Do you think the best process is to pull my shifter out, try to look for some casting number or ID number, then email brewer and ask them what I need? All I know is its an A-833, I dont know if its an OD or not (though someone said it is because the 1/2 shift and 3/4 shift point different directions.)
