Question stock 727 trans limitations

what is the max horse power I can run on my 87s stock 4x4 727 trans

It completely depends upon the condition of the transmission.

^^^ this. the 727 is stout, very stout. What kind of HP are you looking at?

For a transmission in good condition I would have to agree , but that power level will find flaws!

Write it as I read it.... If it was good enough to go behind a 426 in stock form... well that good for me at its stock limit.... Just saying.... 450 HP should be good in my book... "As a Hunch"
Now how well off a use hunk of garbage someone puts together, well thats another story.

yep, agreed. the 727 can eeeasily handle that kind of horse but that power is also gonna find anything wrong with the tranny in a hurry.

I plan on making 650 to 700 and was wondering if i should have a tranny built to a level 2 i want to keep the 4x4 aswell so id probably have the transfer case rebuilt atleast

650 to 700 will make a bomb out of a 727, your going to need some good part's. Yes they blow up.

Thats what i figured might just save and buy a monster trans made for 4x4 racing
