Simple question, but I can't find a diagram or image online that will confirm: Are the stock exhaust pipes on a '66 Charger, for the last length of the exhaust running from behind the rear axle to the tips, hung/mounted from rods that drop down from a rubber bushing mount that is welded to the frame rails? I've got some kind of frame-mounted support rods that are rattling against the aftermarket Flowmaster exhaust system the previous owner installed. He says they are old tailpipe hangers, but to me they look mighty damn sturdy for exhaust hangers, plus they are welded to the frame rails. They sure look like some kind of suspension mount to me, although the rear leaf springs are clearly mounted in the stock configuration. The rear suspension is bone stock.

The rattle is driving me crazy, but I don't want to saw out structural mounts that can't be easily replaced. If they are exhaust support rods, why the hell didn't the muffler shop bracket the pipes to them when they installed the new exhaust system? They're not threaded or anything, they're just bare 1/4" or so rods hanging down from bushing mounts welded to the frame rails.
