1969 Roadrunner wiring ground issues
I have a 1969 Roadrunner and live in Calgary, Alberta, a dry climate. This spring, after winter storage, I put the RH signal light on and the headlights would flash with the signal light. When I have the headlights on the fender marker light stays on as well. I changed the dash wiring harness and no change. The engine wiring harness has been replaced, the headlight harness has not been replaced. Both radiator support and the block to firewall grounds were cleaned and the problem went away. The other day I was driving with the headlights on and the fender marker flickered and stayed on meaning the problem was back. I again cleaned all grounds but to no avail. Suggestions?

Cal, are you sure you found them all? but you are right on the grounds issue. Its hard to tell you from here how to do it. From the schematics I have, the right front lighting system appears to ground at the front turn signal lamp. This is however a schematic, not a blueprint. Locations may vary. Thanks for the info. I have a colored wiring diagram but I was looking for the easy way out - having someone tell me where the grounds are located. As you have indicated, they are marked on the wiring diagram but it doesn't tell you were they are. I may try running an additional ground to the existing one just to ensure they are functioning. Some people say when you lose a ground it's hard to get it back?

Once you've located the ground wire, you could try jumping it a different points along it to find the bad section with a good ground. My experience is that most wires dont go bad in the middle, usually its a termination of some sort. But as an industrial electrician, I also dont run into mice under the hood often either!
