1972 Road Runner Carb question

My neighbor has a72 Runner, with a 340 in it and a Carter Thermoquad on top, he also has a Edelbrock 1405 that we are trying to put on, but e need an adapter plate (among other things). Does anybody know which adapter we need? Its been so long since I've been under the hood of one of these things that I can't remember to save my life, and we really wanna get this one back on the pavement where she belongs.

What's wrong with the Thermoquad ??? If you take the time to understand how they work. They work great.
They do make an adapter. I would check www.summitracing.com
enter carb adapters in the search window

Agree with TV, the TQ can be a great performer on a small block.

The TQ is spreadbore carb and the 1405 is a square bore, so you'd need one that tapers out.

You might even be able yo drop it right on, IF the bolt pattern matches up, air flow won't be perfect but useable. If you go with a 1" spacer, check for hood clearance.

With the TQ you can take one and put it on a 440 or even a 318 and with minor adjustments to the secondary air valve it will work fine on either engine..
