70 ROADRUNNER ID
70 ROADRUNNER ID
I've been offered a rough but numbers matching 70 Roadrunner.
Thing is, I need to be able to authenticate that it's really a Roadrunner and not just a Satellite.
There's a fender tag and signs of it being a Roadrunner.
What can I look for that will positively identify this car as a Roadrunner????
Will the fender tag decode as Roadrunner and not just Satellite for example.....???
I need something that I can do easily at the sellers place.
Any help here please..????????

Post the VIN number and fender tag and we'll help you.
Or go here for VIN decoder: http://www.mymopar.com/decoder.htm
Or look here on Year One for more on VINs: http://roadtrip.yearone.com/2009/10/...-decoding.html
And here is a fender tag decoder: http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=87

If it's a 70, the 6th number of the tag will be a 0.
The 1st number will be an R, this denotes Belve, Sat
And for a Road Runner in 1970 the tag will have to have an M in the third position.

Many thanks Morrigan and Polara.
So, if I'm looking at a 1970 RR with a 383 the tag should read:
RM23L0.......something. Correct.....???
If it starts RL, RP or RH I'm buying a Satellite of some description.....???

OK Got it.
Many thanks.
I'll let you know how I got on.
One last thing:
From the pics that I have, I can see that it has a column shift. Would a Roadrunner have come with one of these???

Dashboard, fender tag, drivers door, stamped into the radiator support, stamped into the trunk rail, and possibly stamped into the package tray. there are probably more places but I can't think of them right now.
