Is a 72 Satellite Sebring a good first Muscle Car?

I don't have much experience with muscle cars but I've fallen in love with many of the classic styles of the 60's and 70's, so I figured i'd finally purchase one to experience it for myself. Browsing my local classifieds I saw a 72 Satellite for sale with a 440 and 4 speed automatic. I was wondering if anyone has input here. The other choice I found locally was a 72 Mach 1 clone with a new crate 302, but as of the moment I'm leaning towards the satellite.

spartan -

A lot depends on your tastes, the condition of the car (body and mechanics) and how much work you want to do to it. In general - that's a GREAT car to work with and one on my favorites.

when i was shopping for a muscle car many years ago, i too came across a 72 satellite and immediately fell in love with this body style. Most common projects involving them is turning them into roadrunner clones. The previous owner i bought mine off of already had cloned it, so i just decided to run with.

Fast forward nearly 6 years...im still ***** deep into turning this beast into a pro-touring type resto-mod. But for what im doing, it will be sooo worth the wait. And i will also say this, although they are not as popular as 68-70 B-bodies or E bodies, there are tons of parts available for the 71-72's with new products being produced all the time. Good luck!!

Yes. Good choice for a first muscle car. One of the things that it has going for it is that it is a '72, which is a year before the mandatory 5 mph bumpers. Go for it!!
