I'm not sure if the actual part was different or not. I CAN tell you this--there is very little difference in height between the B and RB engines. So far as fitting in the car, I doubt it will be an issue. You'd probably change the installed height much more with differences in manifolds and carbs, IE Carter vs Holley, and aftermarket vs factory manifolds

About 30 years ago when I was in on the ground floor of restoring these cars I ran into the same question. I went to the Dodge-Plymouth dealership and had them check in thier parts books.

The base plate for the 440 and 383 are the same in part number and height. I actually measured a factory 383 RR to a factory 440 GTX 4 bbl air cleaner. The Rubber seal on the hood has the ability to make the difference up. The seal was designed to have enough "give" in it so the torquing of the engine would not hit the fiberglass.

By the way I'm new here and am glad to find this site. I have been out of the car circuit for several years and was in Phoenix last weekend and went to a car show and enjoyed it very much. I live in Montana now.

Thanks Silverick,

I hope to learn a lot here as things are different now than when I was buying cars for $1000 complete and getting parts from the junk yard. I did find some neat stuff in the junk yards.

I do not know what height a RPM intake is so I couldn't say if your hood will close.
