Need som help with fender/vin tag decoding, roadrunner ´68

Hi!

I have some questions regarding a fender tag on a roadrunner im thinking of buying...

The problem is on the second line there is a big Z, and that make me really confused.

What does that mean?

Would be really thankfull if someone here could help me and decode this!

/Daniel

There is plenty of knowledge here, be patient and someone will surely have the answer to your question.

Hmmm, looking at the two different tags there? Are they off the same car, cause they don't look like they match. Am I wrong? I've had a couple of beers.

Also, the only reference to a Z seems to refer to a special order V8 on 70 to 74 models, which might apply to the left hand tag in the pics. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I am interpreting the left hand pic as a VIN from a 72.

The left pic (the fender tag) is absolutely not from a '70 or newer car. The body designation is the same on both the FT and the VIN RM21.
Here is what I was able to gather... The character under the "B" doesn't come up anywhere.

RM21 CAR: Plymouth RoadRunner 2 Door Pillar Coupe
62 ENGINE: 383cid 4-bbl HP V8
5 TRANSMISSION: 3-Speed Automatic
44 TIRES: F70x14 Red Side Wall, Steel Belted
709 BUILD DATE: July 09.
48 AXLE: 3.23 Rear Axle Ratio, Sure Grip
H4B INTERIOR: High Trim Grade, Vinyl Split Bench Seats. Light Blue Interior.
QQ1 PAINT: Monotone Bright Blue Metallic Paint.
U OTHER: Light Blue Metallic Upper Door Frame Color.

MOLDINGS:
25: Drip Rail Mouldings
47: 'B' Pillar Mouldings (for coupe)

ABC OPTIONS:
F0: Decor Package
R1: AM Radio
Z8: Performance Hood Treatment (Roadrunner/GTX)

abc OPTIONS:
NONE

OK, I can see now that the figure I had interpreted as a G is really a 6. But, now my question is...the two tags don't match...or am I missing something?
