Well this is the weird thing. On my Roadrunner, I tried starting it up, not even a sound, NOTHING, could the battery be THAT dead? Even the horn doesn't work, not one light turns on. The horn does work though, just wondering if the battery needs to be good.

Things like the lights and horn require very little voltage, sounds like something got disconnected. If not, do a voltage check across the terminals.

It sounds to me like the battery is completely dead. Most parts stores will do a free load test on it and check for an internal short. I would also suggest a battery post cleaner tool to get the junk off the posts and connectors to assure a solid connection.

Check the heavy red wire going thru the firewall bulkhead from the solenoid to the back of the fuse box. 71-4 b-bodies were bad for this connection to overheat, corrode, melt, pop loose, etc. Several times I've had to pop mine loose and clean it, and that was after I rewired the car when building it.

could be your nuetral saftey switch if your trying to start your car. when i got a new battery and my car wouldn't even make a noise but some electronics would work, i switched everything out even the starter and nothing worked until i noticed a wire hanging next to the tranny

The neutral switch is the ground for the starter relay. If simply unpluged the wire from the relay has to be grounded this will cause the car to start in all gear ranges (not a good idea though). If left simply unplugged the car wont start.

You dont need a neutral switch to start your car all you need is a ground for your starter relay which is normaly done thru the neutral switch. The neutral switch (or lack there of) was bypssed in your diplomate. I did the same in my polara.
