I have magnaflows on my Ram Hemi and I think they sound great. I think Flowmasters sound too loud and harsh. It depends on what you want. More noise equals Flowmasters. As for the sounds better part in the last reply, I like my tone sound soo much better. Other trucks with Flowmasters are tooooo loud.

ricky -

How do they compare, flow wise, on a performance (heavy breathing) big block?

I installed a set of Flowmaster 50 series 3 chamber mufflers on my Fury 383.
Sounds great, and woke her up a little bit! I am happy with the sound (not too loud) and the tone!
I have a set of Flowmaster Super 40's (2 chamber) on my lowered pickup truck. Sounds great but, yesterday, I came to the conclusion that they've got to go as it's just too noisy at times!

As far as I'm concerned Flowmaster = junk. I've had 3 over the years rot out and fall apart (all within ~2 years of installing them). Granted I live in New England and the towns love throwing down salt every snow storm but still, a cheap Walker muffler lasts longer.

If you are looking for sound Flowmaster does offer a wide variaty of mufflers. If you are looking for an actual performance muffler and are not that interested in sound, then go with Hooker Maximum Flow mufflers. The 2.5" version of these flow as much as a 2.5" straight pipe (~531 CFM) which is about twice what Flowmaster can do.

I have a link on my home computer showing a flow test that was performed. I will see about posting the link tonight.

Here is a link to the Hooker Maximum Flow muffler - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-21605HKR/

Thumbs up Try the Dynamax Muffers

Great sound, power but not noisey like the Flowmaster 50, I was forced by my wife to take the flowmasters off as the neighbors were complaining. I was happy to change as I enjoy listening to music in my car and being able to carry on a conversation with my passenger. Best wishes CD

I really like the Flowtech Afterburner and Flowtech Warlock mufflers. They're not too raspy and give a good throaty sound. been on my car since '98 and have held up really well. The warlock has a by-pass cap for strait thru noise making.

Your lucky, I live in a condo complex and have 4 "old fart board members
that have nothing to do but make life miserable for others" down the
street from me. A couple of them old farts think they own the place and
think they can do as they please? (They don't like me) I've gotten them in
trouble a couple of times, catching them doing things there not suppost
too.
A few months ago I closed my shop and brought my 79 Magnum GT home
and I had a car cover on it.
A week later I took the car cover off to get a few things out of it and left
it uncovered for a while as I did other things. Came out and recovered it a
few hours later, about an hour after that a tow truck showed up to take it
away????
The rule here is, they must give a 48 hour notice?? Well, the tow truck
driver stopped in front and seen the cover on it and drove away. He 's not
aloud to tow off a car with a cover unless the owner gives permission.
Found out one of the board members told the tow truck company that my
car was broke down and they were authorized to represent the complex,
they were not!
How's that for neighborly love!? lol

A week later, I caught one of the old farts trying to pull the cover off my
car, breaking one one the straps. Dumda$$ didn't know I had cameras. lol
The management company had to get involved and threaten him and his
wife to stop harassing people.
