On the end of the trailshaft (TF727), right under the yoke seal is a pair of bolt holes for what I can only assume is for a mount or x-brace of some sort.

What am I missing?

 

Your fine. In some special rare applications you may find a weight attached- body resonator ???

 

Not to hijack Snakes thread, but I have this weight on the tail of my 727. Can you tell us exactly what it is for and if it is needed. Mine is on a 70 Bee not on the road yet and not the original trans to the car.

 

OOOOO YAAAA i for got on a 64 dodge 880 big block, had a very oddball rear trans mount. it was not a good mount. i dont remember just what my dad and i did. maybe something like suck it down solid. allso i have seen weights on some transs tails. my 65 300L didnt have that trouble.

 

that weight is to dampen vibrations you can see it here from the top of the tailshaft i don't have one from the bottom
but i can tell you also some tranys don't have this option

I recall seeing a few bolt holes on the body near the tail shaft, so I assumed it was either a missing mount or bracket of some sort
