Need help identifying some possible Air Grabber parts...
Hi, y'all!! Although I don't have a garage full of vintage Mopar Mscle I always have liked and respected them and DO have a PT Cruiser. I always hate a first post being that of asking for help, but here goes.
Years ago, probably 25, I picked up a 1965 Impala SS 396 body to build that I thought had a really cool hood - looked like someone had built a cowl induction hood for it. Well, during the restoration I decided to put a stock hood back on it and set this aside. During my Impala rebuild a guy stopped by and told me the scoop mechanism was from an old Mopar muscle-car and offered to trade me a 1966 Impala body for it. I would have done so but wife.gov turned into wife.mil and proclaimed I already had too much junk laying around...
Fast-forward 20 years and I'm trying to get things cleaned up so I decided to remove as much of this scoop/airbox mechanism as I could and looked up some of the numbers. From all I can tell it's possibly from either a 1970 Roadrunner or GTX. I am just trying to figure out excatly what these parts are for so I can properly list them somewhere.
It would seem a shame to toss something that somebody might desperately need, I know first-hand as I have restored several vintage/classic cars and motorcycles. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks. What my "mess" looks like is somebody cut the center 2.5 feet or so out of the MOPAR hood, cut a chunk out of the Impala hood, and then welded or pop-riveted the chunk onto it. Should I cut out the portion of the hood where air door/scoop sits and save it?

Although i guess i cannot be 100% positive, BUT im pretty sure it is definetly not a 71-72 setup. Despite looking similar, the door/lid for the 71-72 is shaped slightly different.
I imagine you possibly have a '70 setup on your hands.
-below is a 71-72 style i repaired many years ago. notice the "pointed" front edge?

i guess i do not understand the question? It appears as tho from the pictures above that these pieces are already unbolted from the hood...I would just put em up for sale as is. The right person will know exactly what to do with it.

I guess my question was a bit "fuzzy" on details. All of this stuff was bolted/grafted onto the hood which came on a 1965 Impala SS I bought to restore. Apparently someone had cut about a 2.5' wide chunk out of the middle of the Mopar hood and grafted it onto the Impala hood. I'm trying to get my shop cleaned up/out and was plannning on disposing of the old Impala hood and was wondering if I should cut out the portion with the "hole" that the air-grabber scoop sets into.

I guess it "depends." If you are selling the air grabber, the hood isn't much good either way. If you want to use that hood, I'd guess you'd need to cut it up and put a conventional scoop on it?
Therefore I'm guessing the grafted piece isn't much good to that hood?
Seems to me that someone "with ambition" and body skills might be able to take the air grabber "piece of the hood" and convert a conventional plymouth hood?

440 - You are correct. When I restored the Impala I put on a stock hood and this had been in the corner for 20 years - it is going to the scrap-dude. I have removed the "air grabber" parts from the hood and was wondering if I should saw out the grafted in portion as well. From messing with old cars for 40+ years I'm acutely aware of how badly someone might need some strange piece of "junk" so I don't want to toss something that could make someone else's life easier.
Here's a couple pics of the hood...
