Need help with my suspension

Hello all. I'm new here. Bought a 65 Fury III last week. It needs some work but it's my daily. Well, when I brake, it trembles. I know it needs the drums resurfaced. But when I go to check the bushings, they're ALL shot. Like deteriorated beyond belief. I'm amazed its driving as smooth as it is.

Anyways, does anyone know where I can get like a full bushing kit? Prefer polyurethane but regular bushings will do as well. I just need to replace the whole front suspension bushings. All of them.

If not, can someone list all the bushings I'll need? I'm also gonna need the ball joints but idk how to tell if my tie rods are good, or if I need a new steering box etc. This suspension is scary.

Go to justsuspension.com or one of the suspension outfits And get a complete rebuild kit. Chances are the steering box is shot, they usually only last 50-60K miles.
Tie rods are probably fine. I would plan on replacing the idler arms too

Welcome to the forum!

The first thing that I would do is to have the drums resurfaced. If you're driving the car, this will help to keep the car from beating on your worn out bushings. All of the bushings and suspension parts should be available and.... you know what to do!

Oh and it turns out the drivers side drum assembly was loose. The bolt that holds the bearing and practically the whole wheel was loose. about halfway unthreaded. It didn't have that crown cap for the pin to hold it place. So it just looesened up I guess. Brakes are good as new. Just need new drums now. They are a bit warped and have no more metal left to resurface them and use em fine.

That gear box is a quick ratio firmer feel one...3 1/2" turns from left to right gets you all the way there

Just to add IF it is your daily driver Convert it to disk brakes. You will be very happy with the results And your ride will be much SAFER Do some junkyard shopping and it could cost less than replacing the drums, I have personally done the conversion on a 67 Coronet

Your Fury is a c-body so you would need to find a disc brake set-up from a later c-body. 69 to 72 seems to be the best years to go for. You will need the spindle, & lower ball joints, and all the brake hard ware, from dust sheilds and rotors, calipers and mounts, up to and including the booster and master. Also gonna need the disc proportioning valve or an after market adjustable one. Shoud be half of the 1200 posted above.
How ever, No reason drums won't work, as long as you keep 'em maintained and drive like you have drum brakes. New drums are available over the counter, or places like rock-auto on line. I would not recomend the poly bushings tho' They will give a harsh ride. Part of what makes a nice c-body is the smooth ride. The poly parts will just beat up the rest of the 47 year old suspension parts. Rubber parts are also avalable in kits or seperate. Get good quality in these parts.

as stated above:

Just a good over the counter upgrade. Yes bolts right in
