Steering column housing removal

Steering column housing removal

I posted this in do it yourself but have not got a response. I am trying to remove a portion of the column housing to cleanly install a tachometer. Needless to say I am in over my head. The two holes you see in the picture had bolts in them. WHen I un-bolted the nuts the bolts fell into the housing behind the PRND12 housing. I can't seem to get the thing to budge. Does anyone know how to remove the rest in the housing including the column shifter? I
