Do the big blocks from the 60,s normally have a strong exhaust smell?
My 440 does. I have went 1 1/2 stepes leaner, but it's still strong.
Am I like a dog chasing it's tail? I have gotten use to the exhaust smell
of the newer cars and don't remember how they were back in the 60's
Maybe they were strong back then. My daugter had an 1980 and the
exhaust smelled like rotten eggs.

 

Where does the exhaust exit ? does it have a cam ? Both can make the exhaust smell

 

Carb too rich still. lean it out as much as you can then dial it back in to smooth idle, todays gas is crap have you used any additives in the gas? Those make it richer.
