transmission help please
I bought a 1974 scamp with a 318 with a 904 transmission. We took the motor and tranny out and put it in my 1974 roadrunner. I bought the roadrunner without a motor/tranny/driveshaft. So I'm trying to use the drive shaft out of the scamp. Its fitting in the transmission but its a few inches too short. Would a 727 be a little longer so it would fit? The transmission crossmember also isnt working because the rr came factory with a 727...The shifter is different too because the scamp was on the column and the rr is on the floor. Is there anywhere i could get a picture of the shifter linkage diagram? Thanks for the help and sorry for so many questions. I'm 14 and haven't quit figured it out yet lol

what year 727 and what size engine did it come from? There is a Big block and Small block version of the 727! Since you have a 318 you'll need a small block 727!
Might be easier to get a drive shaft made to the correct length, and as for the shifter you could use a after market console shifter like a hurst.

I dont have a 727 but I could get one and I know a guy that said he could rebuild one for me. So yeah I would have to get a small block 727 lol...I'm just wondering if that would fix the crossmember and driveshaft problem that the 904 has that is in the rr. The drive shaft goes in the transmission but only about half of the front thing( idk what its called lol) is in it and I think it needs to be all the way in so I thought if a 727 was longer it would come out more and fix the problem.. thanks

This might just work for you, it did for me. My cross member at the tranny
was removeable. The mount sat down in a pocket that had two holes for
placing the mount forwards, backwards or using a mount with two bolts.
I took the cross member out, removed the horizontal web and welded
a flat 3/8 plate where the web used to reside. I left the gussets and
welded them to the horizontal plate. This extended the mounting surface
on the cross member by 2 inches allowing me to mount a 727 with the
mount holes further forward. If you have a '65 and try to mount a tranny
out of a 70 you'll know what I mean. I also thought the OE mount was a
bit on the weak side so using this mod I was able to install a mount from
a 72 Chevy pickup which is much more robust and better made. Any mod
to the cross member requires keeping the tail of the tranny on exact
center which, lucky for Mopar owners, is easy to do.
