Hi, I was trying to gather an opinion on whether or not a trade I'm working on is worth it. I have a 68 Polara 383 Runs and drives. I'd say #4 quality driver. The car I'd be trading for is a 66 Coronet 440 Poly 318 Runs and drives. Again in the category of #4 driver. It needs body work and some interior pieces. I just want other opinions before possibly following through with the trade. Thanks in advance. The guy had an obsession with black and will be removed promptly if I acquire the car.

 

I wouldn't do it, that coronet looks pretty roached out. Your polara may be a four door, but it looks solid and complete.

 

NO WAY!!!!!! Dont do it the Coronet is trashed you car is in alot better shape..How can anyone say that the Coronet is a driver???????That thing has been sitting there for at least 10 years...The Guy is trying to take advantage of you..Look at the inspection sticker that will tell you how long its been since its seen the road...I take it your alot younger then him...Also flat paint hides alot of dings and dents...Bill

It was on the road last in 2012. He has the hood and told me he'd get it running before we continued on with our negotiations. I went to look at it last night and the main thing was body work. I'm also not looking for a perfect numbers matching car, just something that will stand out from the other cars while I'm driving it. Thanks for your answers and maybe this little bit of info will help with some more responses

 

Any time someone is trying to trade something they are looking to up grade at YOUR expense

 

^^^^ I AGREE^^^^ If you really want the Coronet and he wants your Polara, tell him he can have yours for $10,000.00 plus the Coronet. He is screwing you on a trade. DON"T TRADE EVEN UP! That car needs a lot of work, a lot more than just a little body work. If you really want something else, keep looking. Sell your car and buy something nicer than this one with the money that you'll get. Good Luck...you will find something nicer.

 

Sidebar: look at the hood hinges. I don't know how they collapsed them, but they will seriously maim the next guy that touches them!

 

Wow good catch Mr.4spd that could kill someone and take a head clear off...what kind of moron would do that??? take the springs off at least..The deal sucks stay away from the guy he is trying to make a home run...At your expense...Bill
